I looked at the syslog, but there were only some entries about a
translation file not being found for some applications.
I mainly used ps to see which programs were running and how much memory I
still had.
I did have one program a few years ago that gobbled up file descriptors
and eventually failed, but I don't know if that is the case here and if
there is a general file descriptor limit.

:) Thanks for the offer, but the webserver software still needs work and
there are some more (BeOS) projects that I want to work on.

There sure is. Good luck.
When Haiku is stable enough to run on that system, I will surely give it a
try.
