[ge-talk] not so graphical workspaces app

I think there are several problems with the way we do Workspaces. First of
all, finding the workspaces app is not so obvious. On linux desktops, it's
easy to see on the deskbar that you have several workspaces available.

But let's look at the app itself. Can you really tell what is in what
workspace? It also doesn't scale well. let's say you have 7 workspaces-this
graphical display is useless.
OpenGL and vectors don't really help either because either the text is too
small and hard to read or you take up the whole screen (see
http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/spaces.html)

So what I propose is shocking because everyone is so into lots of graphics
and gee whiz.
The workspaces tree.
You would be able to name each workspace and see what windows are in each
space.
for example
1 >Internet
2 >Games
3 >Web Design

I can drop down the arrows so
1 \/ Internet
   Firefox Gmail
   Vision
2 \/ Games
   Solitaire
   Ping pong
3 > Web Design

So with this app I would be able to keep track of everything that's going on
throughout all my workspaces. i can see what's in WS 1,2 and 3 and I don't
really care about the window positions.
Also, it should be easy to move or copy apps to and from workspaces by drag
and drop.
