I was reading up on the Office 2007 UI, which I ponted out, was designed for
people who maximize the window and only do one thing at a time.

Not necessarily the best idea for an OS designed so you can do lots of
things at the same time.

Believe it or not Microsoft isn't the only word processor around or a clone
like openoffice. Look at Nisus Writer Express on the mac:

I think I would want this as a sidebar all the way to the right or left of
the screen.

Another idea I found was the zoomable UI

I think if this concept is going to work, zooming should show more objects
and information and not make text size ridiculously large or tiny
