I have to say I'm usually not impressed by those 3d desktop tricks
But this may be a different story:

The only other "trick" that comes close is for workspaces. this takes
the whole screen

I still think a window "tracker" that lists the workspaces, apps and
tabs in some sort of 'tree' makes more sense than any graphical view.
With gfx, everything is tiny and hard to know what is what
