Windows is particulary stupid also in this regard, most f-up is that
those balloons prevent tooltips to pop-up.

Sometimes they tend to have too much text which blocks the rest. Those
double underlined links in some webpages do get more annoying because of
the frequent pop-up, but they can be avoided sure.

I'm all for modifier keys, press ? and mousebutton 1 to get help in a
context, sounds very good to me. Of course when you have / and
shift'+'/'=''?' then pressing / and mousebutton1 should give the same
result, just for convinience.
I'm also for easy modifier keys, so there were there is no trouble or
focus on a text input field there I should await that 'alt-key' should
do the same as for just 'key'. Also preconfigured ctrl+arrows or
alt+arrows should jump to next/previous word, that includes the
terminal. Oh I love the select middleclick-paste X has :-)
