How would this work in list boxes? Selection and invocation are two
distinct operations there. I would find it weird to use the right
("secondary") button to select list items, mainly as my brain has the
right button mapped to context menus I suppose.
However I think there is a case for re-thinking the way tracker works in
this respect, as it's true that "invoking" files must be more common
than wanting to select a single file without wanting the context menu.
All I'd miss would be the click-to-rename functionality (though perhaps
it's easier to press F2 anyway).
I find MS Windows' select-after-hover slightly odd, especially as it
makes no odds if you click before or after the hover time elapses. If we
were to do single click in tracker, I'd think selecting either with the
right button if you want a context menu, or selecting without a context
menu by holding a modifier or by dragging a box starting in a non-active
area gives enough options for selection.
